Resources for Growing in Faith

Here are some outside materials and information sources that are freely available to all, to assist in individual explorations of Christian issues and themes.

Cokesbury Booktable

Mary Seal stocks the booktable (really a portable cabinet) with a wonderful array of books--perfect for summer reading! Descriptions of some books that are currently in stock, and those that may be ordered quickly, are found under "More Information" on this page.

Presbyterian Discussion Guides
Looking for an engaging, thoughtful, one-time discussion guide for your covenant group or Sunday school? Our denomination has put together an excellent online resource, packed with downloadable short-term (one or two session) discussions called The Thoughtful Christian. Each topic has a leader guide and a participant handout. They cost $5-10 each to download. If you see something you want to use for an SPC group, David Casson would be happy to download it for you. http://www.thethoughtfulchristian.com/New%20Site/main/Home.asp.

Mars Hill Audio Journal
Mars Hill Audio Journal, a Christian interview program hosted by NPR veteran Ken Myers, explores "contemporary culture from the vantage point of Christian conviction." Published bi-monthly on CD or cassette, it makes a good driving companion. For more information visit http://www.marshillaudio.org.

"Pray for Our Enemies" Blogspot
Jesus stated in Mathew and Luke that we should pray for our enemies. One of SPC’s members, Henry “Mack” Davis, has felt considerable spiritual prodding in this area for some time and has set up a blogspot, http://prayforourenemies.blogspot.com, that has his initial thoughts on the subject and is beginning to draw outside participation. If you are interested in thinking about this challenging teaching, check out Mack's site.

Between Millennia: What Presbyterians Believe About the Coming of Christ
