Ministries for Women
Thursday Morning Women's Bible Study
An all-ages group meets at the church at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday mornings year-round, with new studies starting in summer, fall, and the new year. This summer Faye Reeves is leading discussion of What's So Amazing About Grace? by Philip Yancey. Questions? Please contact Faye at 822-0305 or fayecr[at]juno[dot]com.
Fall Study: All women are invited to the Thursday Morning Women's Study when it resumes on September 9 at 9:30 a.m. The study will be Christian Commitment in Today's World, based on I and II Thessalonians and Philippians. For more information please call Kay McMillan at 828-0181.
Wednesday Night Women's Study
This group meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays each month in the adult ed wing at SPC, at 6:30 p.m. All women at Sandia are invited to join any study. The six-week summer study is the book, The Ten Commandments from the Back Side, by J. Ellsworth Kalas. Kalas says that the Ten Commandments have suffered from "bad press" when they are really the "gift of a loving God" which he will illuminate from the "back side." Please contact Jane Matheu, matheu[at]mac[dot]com for information.
Young Adult Women's Bible Study
The Young Adult Women meet on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. in the Upper Room. For more information contact Karina Bell, 293-3783 or karinabell[at]gmail[dot]com. The group is taking a break until fall--start-up date and specific study TBA.

Presbyterian Women
One group of Presbyterian Women meets at the church on the first Monday of each month at 9:30 a.m. The other group meets in homes on the first Wednesday evening of each month at 7:00 p.m. during the school year. Women of all ages are welcome to join at any time. Contact Connie Krelle at 856-1373 for information on the Monday morning group, and Mary Bejcek at 821-7446 for information on the Wednesday group. Both groups are on break for the summer, resuming after Labor Day.
Advent by Candlelight
Presbyterian Women sponsor an Advent Event in early December. This event combines music, devotions, fellowship, and dessert and is extremely popular.
Prayer Shawl Ministry
We have people who knit and crochet prayer shawls for those needing God’s comfort and support during difficult times. (This ministry is not limited to women, but it is listed here because women more often are interested in such projects.) Contact Karen McCullough at 821-8511 for information on how to become involved, or if you know someone who could benefit from a shawl. This ministry also needs monetary contributions to buy supplies. One group meets on the first Wednesday each month in the church prayer room at 9:30 a.m. An evening group meets on the first Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m. No experience is needed—instruction and assistance are available. Please note--the Wednesday morning group is taking a summer break until September. The Monday evening group will meet again on August 2, at 6:30 p.m. (note different time), at Shirley Kendall's house.
This ministry has expanded its "volunteer giving" to making baby blankets and newborn baby caps for local new-mother charities, as well as providing shawls for hospice patients. Beginning knitters/crocheters as well as experienced crafters are encouraged to join either group. There are many new patterns and ideas available to inspire you. Volunteers continue to make prayer shawls to keep up the supply, and they encourage all to share shawls with those who need a special expression of God's love at a difficult time.
Quilting Ministry
Our Children's Ministries team presents babies with quilts when they are baptized. If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please contact Lorna Loeffler, 856-5040 x115. The group meets at SPC on the second and fourth Monday each month at 9:30 a.m.
