Children's Ministry

Please join us as we...toddlers.jpg

Embark... on a journey that begins when we are born and continues all of our lives.
Infant and toddler nursery care is available during all worship services and during the Sunday school hour. A tag system is used, with vibrating pagers available.

Discover... that learning about God is fun!
During the 9:30 Christian Formation Hour, our 3-, 4-, and 5-year-olds have their own Sunday school called "Little Trails." This class meets in the preschool room with curriculum and activities designed especially for them. Our K through 5th-grade children join our Trailblazers Sunday school program, which uses the Workshop Rotation Model. Everyone meets for an opening time together, with includes singing.

Immerse... ourselves in an environment of learning about God using all of our senses.
In our Trailblazers program, children get to smell popcorn popping as they come down the hallway... They use their whole bodies as they act out the Bible story or participate in games or music and dance... They taste the Bible story through cooking activities... They touch and feel a variety of media as they create an art project or participate in a science experiment... They see or create a video that goes along with the Bible story... And they are surrounded by mural-covered walls that stimulate their imaginations and help tell the Bible narrative.

Witness... children growing in faith.
We include a service project at least once a semester, as well as during Advent and Lenten special events.
Embedded in our Trailblazer program is a philosophy we call Stepping Stones to Faith. The faith development of children is encouraged by offering milestone classes and opportunities:foursquare.jpg

  • 1st-graders learn about worship by participating in the Stepping Stones to Worship class.
  • 3rd-graders receive Bibles and participate in a special class (Workshop 3B) that teaches them how to use their Bibles.
  • 5th-graders revisit the topic of worship in the Worship Now! class and finish the year with a transitional class called Bridges
  • 4th- and 5th-graders learn how to serve as acolytes during Sunday worship services.
  • Each November, children participate in all aspects of the worship service during Children's Sunday.

Encounter... God, especially in our relationships with others.
Special events are planned for children and their families for Advent and Lent. Each June we offer Vacation Bible School, a week-long, daily program of learning and fun for children pre-K through 5th grade.
Our preschool offers weekday classes for children ages 3-5, including a pre-K class. For more information, please contact LeeAnna Sacoman, Preschool Director, at 875-1083. (Please see the Preschool page for more information.)
