SPC’S Food Pantry—Our supplies are low after Christmas! Please bring nonperishable food to the collection boxes in Fellowship Hall and the FLC lobby. We give to a different food project each week, so we need new supplies weekly: hearty soups, rice, beans, powdered milk, canned fruit/vegetables/ meat, peanut butter, jam/jelly, un-sugared cereal, baby food/formula/cereal, pasta, chili, stew, juice, oatmeal, crackers, breakfast/granola bars, various tomato products/sauces.

Haitian Disaster Relief—PC(USA) is responding to the catastrophic earthquake in Haiti through Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and its partners. Funds from One Great Hour of Sharing are already helping with the initial response. You can give to the ongoing relief effort through http://www.pcusa.org/give/online, project #DR00064. For details on the PC(USA) response, visit http://www.pcusa.org/pda/response/latinamerica/haiti-earthquake011310.htm.
NEW TAX RULE FOR HAITI DONATIONS. A new tax-relief law allows donors who contributed in 2010 (Jan. 12-March 1) to charities providing Haiti earthquake relief to take a tax deduction for the contribution on the 2009 tax return instead of the 2010 return, but not both. This means you may receive an immediate tax benefit, rather than having to wait until you file next year’s return. Please consult your tax professional (not SPC) for additional details and restrictions, which include records, cash donations (includes credit/debit cards, text, checks), and donations specific to Haiti (not general-purpose donations to Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Red Cross, or other organizations). Details at www.irs.gov.

Parish Nurses—The Parish Nurse Ministry helps Sandia's members with their healthcare needs by assessing their situations, guiding them to resources as appropriate, and educating them about their health. Fourteen Registered Nurses from our congregation help with blood pressure screenings once a month, as well as providing hospital visits, phone visits, and home visits for our members. If you would like to refer one of our congregation members to the Parish Nurses or are interested in helping with this ministry, please call Betsy Everett, 828-0674.
