Upward Basketball

Our Goal

Sandia Presbyterian Church in Albuquerque, New Mexico offers a Winter recreational youth league for players in Kindergarten through 8th grade each year. Upward Basketball is a youth basketball league designed to develop young athletes mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially. We provide a positive environment for athletes of all levels to grow. Each week your athlete will hear about a life principle taught from the Bible to prepare them for life while learning the fundamentals of basketball.

Registration is now closed for the 2024-2025 season.

Good luck this season and registration for the 2025-2026 season will open in October, 2025.

2024-25 Season

We're excited for the 2024–25 Season of Upward Basketball! Registration is now closed. All evaluations, practices, and games are held in the Family Life Center Gym at Sandia Presbyterian Church. Each team practices only once per week for one hour on one-half of an Upward-sized basketball court utilizing one basket. All games will be held on Saturdays from January 8 to March 18 in the Family Life Center Gym. Once your player is assigned to a team after evaluations, you will be able to access the team's schedule and coaches contact information through their team webpage! Key Dates

Registration opens on Friday, September 1
Registration closes on Thursday, October 17
Evaluations begin Monday, October 14
NO REFUNDS will be given after Monday, November 4
Practices start on Monday, November 18
There are no practices from November 25-29 and December 23 to January 3.
The first game day is Saturday, January 13
The final game day is Saturday, March 8
The season celebration is Saturday, March 8

Half-Time Devotions

At half-time of each game, while players are in their "locker rooms," we provide a 3-4 minute devotional for parents, siblings, and other spectators who remain in the gym. We need volunteers to offer these devotions. If you've signed up to do a devotion, please arrive in the Family Life Center Gym at a quarter after the hour. Check in at the timekeeper table on the stage to let them know you're there. Email Matt Reed at mreed@sandiapres.org to volunteer.
