Opportunity Details
International Students, Inc. (ISI) Albuquerque
NEW Mission Opportunity! Starting October 20, the Sandia Pres Mission Team is beginning a new volunteer opportunity, and it only involves providing food! International Students Inc. (ISI) connects foreign students at UNM with each other and to groups with whom they may socialize and, if they wish, participate in Bible study. They have a dinner group nearly every Friday night that meets for food, conversation, and studies. Many foreign students have become Christians in part through these regular dinners and studies. SPC has volunteered to provide meals for these students the third Friday of each month (usually) beginning October 20. The Signup Genius link is posted below for full details and to sign-up:
In Matthew 28:19, Jesus commands his followers to “Go therefore and make disciples of all
nations.” We are fortunate that in this time, we do not have to go out to all the nations; instead,
all the nations are coming here, to UNM for their studies. International Students Inc. (ISI) meets
foreign students at UNM, helps them get settled into living spaces, and begin to make friends in
this new place. They also invite these students to learn more about the Bible and Christianity. As
part of welcoming students for the fall semester, SPC is hosting a pasta and salad buffet lunch for
the students at UNM on Monday, August 14. ISI anticipates serving 50-100 incoming students.
We are looking for Charitable Chefs who would be able to bring a pasta dish (lasagna, spaghetti,
mac & cheese, etc.), a salad (any kind), rolls or a dessert for about 20 people. We also need
people willing to serve lunch and sit down to dine and talk with the students.
Note that a minority of the students do not eat beef or pork, or are vegan or vegetarian, but most
of them like all kinds of dishes, so we are inviting people to show off their creativity.

A strategic local ministry with global Impact, ISI Albuquerque exists to provide the opportunity for each of the nearly 2,000 international students and scholars at UNM to experience God's love through an American friend. ISI recruits, trains, and equips volunteers to reach out to the students by meeting their immediate needs and offering friendship. More than 500 new students will arrive this August from many countries.
