Senior Luncheon

Crime and Safety Issues in Albuquerque

We all hear this topic addressed  DAILY in the news, with recent local politicians’ debates, or from actual experience. Recent statistics seem to show a slight overall decrease in crime in the past year, but if that is true, why do most of us still feel unsafe in our community, especially in certain areas of our city? Please join us on Thursday, January 15th for our first 55+ luncheon in 2026, to hear our speaker, Joe Abbin, give the latest crime stats, his recommendations for improvement and more importantly, what we can do about it.

Joe Abbin is a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, alumnus of UNM with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Sandia National Labs, for 40 years. He was an ABQ Police Department Reserve Officer from 1983 – 2020. He served on the Foothill Area Community Policing Council and was the Chairman of the Foothill Council in 2019. He is the author of ABQ Blues: Crime and Policing in Albuquerque, NM, first published in 2018 and updated in 2022.

Lunch 11:30-12:00

Please sign-up in Fellowship Hall so we have enough tables and chairs.
