The Pharisees chided Jesus because his disciples did not wash their hands before eating. But Jesus makes the point that the cleanliness of what enters our bodies is of little importance compared to the dark things in our souls that escape through word or deed. There is a lot
of stuff inside us that will just leak out, but its pressure can be relieved by confessing such sin to God.
