The Bible is divinely inspired, with important truths for us despite temporal/cultural/geographic divide between modern American Christians and the ancient cultures to whom it was directlyaddressed. Some books are cultural instruction, some poetry and important metaphor, some historical accounts, etc., and they are best understood when studied according to their nature. Even long-time biblical scholars wrestle with some passages, but there are some helpful guidelines for contextual understanding, crawing on N.T.
