Series: Keys to the Kingdom

Starting Small

March 23, 2014 | Rev. Matt Pooley

There is both patience and perseverance involved in watching a seed grow into a tree or yeast turning flour into dough. Jesus uses these images to describe the growth of God's kingdom: so, where in your life do you need to be patient with God's timing? Where in your life do you need to persevere in daily sowing the seed of God's word in your own heart and in the people you care about most?

Series Information

One of Jesus' favorite teaching methods was the parable, and parables in Matthew address a favorite subject, the Kingdom. Over the centuries his parables have been subject to extremes of interpretation, both overly allegorical and overly simplistic. In reality Jesus used parables to both reveal and conceal important information, depending on who was listening.
