Why Does God Not Answer Prayer?

February 09, 2014 | Dr. Doug Hucke

Our prayers go unanswered and that is difficult. Sometimes unanswered prayer is so devastating it rocks our faith and instills profound doubt. God sees the infinitely complex web of cause and effect that we can't even imagine, and his purposes sometimes require a "no" to our prayers. Jesus prayed for deliverance, and all he got was silence. God was doing something in the world and something in us, and that required a "no" to his own son's prayer. We don't know why some prayers get answered and some don't. But God's "no" to Jesus on the cross means "yes" to every person who ever lived.
