We hope that if we push the right button, God will answer our prayers. But sometimes he does not do so in ways we understand or appreciate. In Christianity there is no "easy" button. To get through the narrow gate that leads to life, we all need to drop some baggage. Do you need to drop the idea that God exists to grant your every wish? That faith should make life easy? That God is here to serve you? Deny yourself and take up your cross, and there you will find life.

We like to think we can control God, as if with the click of a button, that we can persuade God to give us what we want. But God is beyond our control, and His plans for us are far greater than we can imagine. There is a big difference between what we want and what we need, and we need to learn to trust God in all things.
